How National Molding’s Largo, Florida Facility Helps Medical Device Companies Accelerate Product Development While Meeting Stringent Quality Requirements

Medical device manufacturers operate in one of the world’s most highly regulated industries. Whether producing diagnostic consumables, drug delivery components, surgical instruments, or patient care devices, every manufacturing decision directly impacts product quality, regulatory compliance, and ultimately, patient safety.

That’s why choosing the right contract manufacturing partner is critical.

At National Molding’s Medical Products Division in Largo, Florida, customers gain access to an advanced ISO Class 8 certified cleanroom manufacturing environment, combined with a cGMP-controlled White Room assembly operation, providing a complete solution for precision plastic injection molding and medical device contract manufacturing. The Largo facility features over 7,600 square feet of available ISO Class 8 cleanroom capacitywithin a 107,000-square-foot climate-controlled manufacturing campus, allowing customers to scale production from prototype through high-volume commercialization.

What Is an ISO Class 8 Cleanroom?

An ISO Class 8 cleanroom (formerly known as a Class 100,000 cleanroom) is a controlled manufacturing environment designed to significantly reduce airborne particulate contamination.

Temperature, humidity, filtration, personnel flow, and manufacturing processes are carefully controlled to ensure consistent production conditions. These environments are essential when manufacturing products that require:

    • Medical-grade cleanliness
    • Reduced contamination risk
    • Process repeatability
    • Regulatory compliance
    • Reliable product performance

For many Class I and Class II medical devices, cleanroom molding is no longer optional—it is an expectation from OEMs, regulatory agencies, and healthcare providers alike.

Capacity to Grow with Your Program

One of the greatest challenges facing medical OEMs is finding manufacturing partners with available capacity.

National Molding has invested heavily in expanding its Largo medical manufacturing campus, including additional cleanroom space, new injection molding equipment, and expanded controlled-environment production areas to support customer growth.

Today, the facility operates dozens of precision injection molding presses ranging from approximately 40 to 300 tons, giving customers flexibility across a broad range of medical applications while maintaining room for future expansion.
